It seems everyone has their own theories about how to make hair grow out faster. Getting a regular trim seems reasonable enough, but when you're asked to start slathering your scalp with weird concoctions, it might be time to delve into the topic for yourself. You can help your hair grow out faster. It won't be an overnight success, but your efforts will pay off in the long run.
Step 1
Use a gentle shampoo that is intended to improve your specific type of hair. So, if you have dry hair, use a shampoo formulated to moisturize dry and damaged hair. If you have oily hair, use a clarifying or extra cleansing shampoo. Follow the shampoo with a good conditioner also suited to your hair type.
Step 2
Maintain a healthy diet for your overall well-being and to speed up the rate of hair growth. Focus especially on getting plenty of protein. Eat healthy sources of protein like fish and chicken. Doing so helps replenish your hair, which is made up of protein cells.
Step 3
Supplement your diet with a daily vitamin. Use a multivitamin that contains a combination of folic acid, sulfur, zinc, vitamin B6 and beta carotene, all of which will contribute to healthy hair--not to mention, healthy skin and nails.
Step 4
Massage your scalp each day. You can do this while washing your hair or with a hot oil treatment. Simply use your fingertips to massage your scalp for about 5 minutes. Don't dig in with your nails. Just gently massage the scalp. This will increase blood flow and stimulate your hair follicles, encouraging faster hair growth.
Step 5
Get a haircut every 4 to 6 weeks. Having the dead and dry ends of your hair trimmed off regularly will foster healthier hair that does not break, split or fall out as easily, meaning your hair will grow out longer at a faster rate.
