Acne can appear on the skin in many different forms, including blackheads, whiteheads, cysts and nodules. Once the skin is infected with acne breakouts, the skin can become very painful and inflamed. Acne blemishes are often unsightly and can cause a lowered sense of self-esteem in many people. Because of these reasons, it is beneficial to eliminate acne breakouts efficiently and quickly. To get rid of acne in as little as three days, you need to use stronger acne-fighting products that will cleanse, medicate and moisturize the skin properly.
Step 1
Cleanse the skin with a tea tree oil castille soap. Wet the skin with water, and pour 1 tsp. of tea tree oil soap into your hands. Create a lather with the soap by rubbing your hands together, then spread the lather onto your skin. Gently rub the lather around for one to two minutes, then rinse it off well with water. Repeat twice per day.
Step 2
Medicate the skin with a 5-percent-concentration benzoyl peroxide cream. Squeeze a pea-sized amount of 5-percent benzoyl peroxide cream onto your finger, and spread the cream around the skin gently until it has been completely absorbed. Repeat twice per day.
Step 3
Moisturize the skin with an oil-free facial lotion that is formulated for sensitive skin. Squeeze a dime-sized amount of the lotion onto your fingers, and apply it to the skin. Use your fingers to spread the lotion around your face, gently gliding the fingers over the skin until it soaks in. Repeat twice per day.
Step 4
Spot treat individual breakouts using a 10-percent-concentration benzoyl peroxide cream. Dab a small amount of 10-percent benzoyl peroxide cream onto the individual acne pustules with your finger. Carefully spread the cream only around the bump, avoiding letting the cream touch the surrounding skin. Apply the 10-percent cream once per day.
Tips and Warnings
- There are many strengths of benzoyl peroxide creams, and a 5-percent concentration is a mid-strength cream that is more effective than the lower-strength creams in clearing acne, but will not irritate the skin like the higher strength creams can. Using a 10-percent concentration benzoyl peroxide cream to spot-treat individual acne breakouts will target the acne-fighting chemicals directly to the pustules so that they can be eliminated more quickly. Applying an oil-free facial lotion that is designed for sensitive skin will keep the skin hydrated without irritating it or clogging the pores.
- Don't apply the 10-percent benzoyl peroxide cream over the entire face, since it is the highest-strength cream and can cause irritation when used to frequently.
