Natural balance is the ability to find and maintain optimum physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. This is best achieved with a healthy and balanced diet, regular exercise, and being mindful of the people and things you encounter in everyday life. Achieving Natural Balance in life increases health, immunity, fitness level and an overall sense of well being.

History

People have tried to find natural balance for thousands of years. Paintings found in Pakistan dating as far back as 3,700 B.C. show people in common yoga poses practicing "a form of ritual discipline" still used today to help achieve natural balance. In modern society, with so many more freedoms and choices, natural balance has become more difficult, though not impossible, to achieve.

Time Frame

Natural balance is not something achieved in a day, week or even a year, but rather a life-long pursuit made with commitment and recommitment. It is best to begin with small steps. First, notice the things that are already balanced and significant in your life. Maybe you have wonderful, supportive friends, but need to work on eating better and exercising or the other way around. Slowly add to the areas you need to work on, taking pride in the small steps you make.

Considerations

Life happens. It happens on the days you work hard and on the days you don't. Natural balance is not about being perfect all the time, or never making mistakes. It is about the commitment and recommitment to keep plugging away at the original goal. Some days you slip and fall out of balance. But one of the amazing things about balance is that once you have had it, even if for only a second, it is easier to find it again. Just recommit.

Misconceptions

Natural balance does not look the same for everyone. Everybody is born with different interests, temperament, personality, abilities and talents. Finding natural balance in your life does not mean you need to fit into a mold. Rather, it will help you become the best person you are giving the things that make you unique. One of the most important parts of finding natural balance is becoming self aware enough to figure out what you need to achieve it.
