How to Lose Weight With HCG

HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is used to boost the body's metabolism and reduce fat when used in conjunction with a low-calorie diet. According to HCG Medical, there are other positive side effects of using HCG for weight loss including better sleep cycles, mood enhancement, mental clarity and increased energy. HCG is commonly produced in pregnant women when the fetus begins developing and it has been approved by the FDA for use in infertility treatments. Research is still pending on HCG's use in weight loss. HCG has not yet been FDA-approved for weight loss.

Step 1

Research doctors and weight loss clinics to choose the appropriate practitioner for your needs. Some clinics do not house professional staff and should be avoided. Use only a licensed health care practitioner when undergoing any type of hormone therapy.

Step 2

Complete all medical forms on your first visit. It is important that all risk factors are evaluated by the attending physician before starting HCG injections.

Step 3

Consent to a full blood workup. The doctor will collect blood to measure cholesterol levels, thyroid function and glucose levels. Most doctors will consult with you regarding your results and help you come up with a plan to lower any abnormally high levels of triglycerides, or heighten thyroid function.

Step 4

Take medications as prescribed. You may be given appetite suppressants in conjunction with HCG injections. It is important to take them as directed to avoid overeating and sabotaging your weight loss.

Step 5

Inject HCG daily, preferably in the morning as it can boost energy levels. Some injections come prefilled by clinic staff while others are filled by you at home from a vial. Injections are to be administered into the fatty tissue underneath the skin of the upper thigh. Make sure the area is properly cleansed before administering your injection.

Step 6

Limit caloric intake to your doctor recommended level. Caloric intake for successful weight loss will be calculated by your physician in regards to current weight, sex, age and BMI. During HCG therapy, avoid dairy products. The acidic makeup of milk-based foods and drinks inhibits HCG effectiveness. Soy cheeses and milk are ideal.

Step 7

Weigh in weekly at your weight loss clinic or doctor's office. Weekly weigh ins are required to chart your progress and assist with any complications that may arise such as the need to adjust dietary requirements.
