Appetite is the feeling of hunger and the desire to eat food. It is your body's way of telling you that it needs nutrients. Numerous factors can cause loss of appetite, with the most common including stress, anxiety, medications and illness. When you feel like you don't want to eat, you have to act quickly since water and food are needed for your body to function properly. If left untreated, loss of appetite can weaken your immune system and deprive your body of the vital nutrients it needs to function properly. Fortunately, there are many easy methods you can apply to effectively and safely increase your appetite.
Step 1
Add half a cup of bitter melon to your diet every day. This vegetable contains charantine, lectins and momordicine, substances that can increase your appetite while regulating your digestive system.
Step 2
Consume 3 to 4 tbsp. of grated orange peels. Orange peels contain high amounts of glycosides, which can help increase your appetite while stimulating your lymphatic system and improving digestion. Wash one orange and grind the orange peels using a cheese grater. Add the grated peels to one glass of juice of water. Drink the mixture once in the morning to stimulate your appetite.
Step 3
Mix 1 tbsp. of cinnamon powder in half a glass of water and drink 30 minutes before lunch and/or dinner. Cinnamon contains a substance called hydroxychalcone, which can naturally stimulate your appetite. You can also sprinkle cinnamon on healthy foods such as wheat bread and apples.
Step 4
Take one 500 mg dandelion root capsule three times a day or as directed. Dandelion contains potent compounds called inulin, which can sitmulate your digestive system and enhance your appetite.
