The Advair diskus is a device containing a combination of the medicines salmeterol and fluticasone. It is prescribed in the treatment of asthma to help you breathe better and to control the common symptoms of asthma such as shortness of breath and wheezing. It is not for use during an attack of asthma, but rather as a preventative used regularly. Salmeterol is a bronchodilator that is long-acting. Fluticasone is a corticosteroid that helps control symptoms by acting in the airways and lungs.
