Weight loss, nutrition and exercise seem to be on everyone's agenda these days. Finding the time to actually put your fitness plan into motion is daunting. Getting your body moving is the prerequisite for making weight loss happen. Moderately sedentary lifestyles leave little room for error when it comes to diet and nutrition. Your best hope is to find ways to fit exercise and daily activity into your everyday routine.

Work Out Without Equipment

Putting your body in motion at home without equipment is limited by only your imagination. You can put on a pair of good shoes and get outside and walk--simply make the walk to and from your mailbox, around your neighborhood or around your own yard.

Other quick exercises you can do at home without equipment include jumping jacks, push-ups, leg lifts, crunches and squats. While you are exercising your body, you also can exercise your mind. Instead of simply counting your jumping jacks with consecutive numbers, revive those old math formulas you learned, recite the spelling of countries or simply remind yourself of the capital of each state in the United States.

If you like to dance or need to entertain a small child, put on some music and get your body moving. The sillier the moves, and the more energetic the motions, the more beneficial this fun and easy exercise becomes.

If you would like to do a bit of light weight lifting, head to the pantry. Instead of opening up that bag of chips, grab a can of peas or a bottle of laundry detergent and get to work. Lifting and toning muscles using everyday household items is just as efficient as using expensive gym equipment.

Work Out While Watching Television

If you find yourself sitting mesmerized by the newest TV shows with a bag of cookies and milk, try to get some exercise during this time instead. You can burn up to 350 more calories per day if you simply fidget while you watch those shows.
You also can watch your favorite shows while you are walking on the treadmill, climbing on the stair stepper or using any other piece of cardio equipment. One way to start a fitness regimen is to use the equipment during the show, resting during the commercials. Soon, you'll find that you don't even need those commercial breaks.
If you don't have any equipment--and you don't need it--you can create a circuit training system. Assign certain areas of the room for each exercise. For example, use a mat for sit-ups, have a place for marching in place or doing push-ups and leave a big enough area for some jumping jacks. Then, simply move from one type of exercise to another in the comfort of your home. Move from one "circuit" to another during the show or the commercial breaks to build strength and endurance.

It Can Be All Fun And Games

Almost every console game now offers games that can help you build muscle strength, increase your cardiac strength or even get your groove on and raise your overall fitness level. Examples are the Wii Fit, the EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge, Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2010, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games and Shaun White Snowboarding Road Trip, or you can even get your motivation from the experts with "The Biggest Loser" game or try Daisy Fuentes Pilates and have an instructor in your very own home. A myriad of dance games can get you moving and increase you overall lifetime fitness. These games offer sensible fitness opportunities as well as game skills that can change your idea of exercising to a lifelong commitment to feeling better and looking better.
