Your body constantly undergoes a complex biochemical sequence of actions to convert the food you eat into energy you use every day. This complex biochemical process is called metabolism. Fats from foods, together with oxygen, proteins and carbohydrates, are brought together to release the energy your body needs to function correctly. Having a high metabolism is a key component in effective weight loss. By applying several methods, you can easily and effectively boost your metabolism and lose unwanted weight in the process.

Step 1

Sprinkle ½ tbsp. of spices on to your foods on a daily basis. Spices such as black pepper, cayenne, chili or paprika all contain potent substances that can quickly increase your metabolism for a few hours. Additionally, eat non-fried healthy East Indian meals, since these kinds of dishes are rich in spices.

Step 2

Drink one to two cups of green tea on a daily basis. Green tea includes potent compounds called catechins, which can oxidize your fat cells and boost your metabolism, helping you burn unwanted fat easily.

Step 3

Eat one to two servings of spinach every day. Spinach contains an antioxidant called flavonoid, which can boost your metabolic rate in a short amount of time, enabling you to burn unwanted fat quickly. Add spinach leaves to salads or steam them.

Step 4

Eat ½ cup of apricots. This plum includes a potent active ingredient called salicylate, which can provide you with extra energy while quickly boosting your metabolism rate.

Step 5

Exercise for 30 minutes to one hour on a daily basis to help boost your metabolism. Do exercises such as swimming, running, bicycling and aerobics to help increase your lean muscle mass and lessen body fat. When your muscle mass is increased, your metabolic rate also increases, helping you burn off many calories. Your muscle cells use more calories than your fat cells since their metabolic rate is higher.
