Obagi Medical Products, based in Long Beach, California, produces several lines of skin care products to serve a variety of clinic purposes, including enhancing the results of dermatological procedures, treating acne vulgaris plus treating and preventing rosacea symptoms.
History
The first Obagi product, the Obagi Nu-Derm System, was introduced in 1988. The company assumed its current identity as Obagi Medical Products Inc. in 1997.
Nu-Derm
Obagi's flagship product line is still in production. Nu-Derm is marketed to help reduce skin damage from overexposure to UVA and UVB rays.
Availability
Because they contain prescription-strength formulations, Obagi skin care products are available only through consultation with a physician, surgeon or medical spa.
Distribution
In the United States, Obagi is distributed through a direct sales force of dedicated representatives. International distribution is conducted through distribution partners in more than 42 countries.
Investing
As of February 2010, Obagi is traded on the Nasdaq stock market as a common stock under the symbol OMPI.
