As you age, your skin care needs change. You may notice the beginnings of fine lines and wrinkles, and your skin may seem less firm and elastic. Your skin may look dull, or you may be battling acne. Choose products based on what your skin needs, not based on the age range listed on the product, says skin and cosmetics expert Paula Begoun, author of "Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me."

CeraVe

Dermatologist Dr. Dara Spearman recommends CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for dry skin. Creams are generally richer and better at moisturizing dry skin than lotions, crucial for aging skin that has trouble maintaining its moisture. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream features patented technology that helps it deliver moisture deep into the skin to rebuild it and create a more youthful appearance. CeraVe may be used with prescription skin products.

Neutrogena

ConsumerSearch.com chose Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream as the best anti-wrinkle moisturizer. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream contains retinol, a form of vitamin A, which helps stimulate the production of collagen in the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines. It also contains salicylic acid, which helps prevent pimples, a problem that can plague some women even into their 50s.

Olay

ConsumerSearch.com chose Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum as one of their best eye creams, noting that the ingredients in this product are virtually identical to those in the Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum. It can be used on the face and delicate skin around the eyes, while providing a greater amount of product for the same amount of money. The ingredients in this serum hydrate the skin to reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles and lines. With continued use, skin can regain some of the elasticity lost as part of the aging process.
Dermatologist Dr. Dara Spearman recommends Olay Regenerist Filling + Sealing Wrinkle Treatment for patients looking for a non-invasive way to treat fine lines and wrinkles. As the product name implies, this product fills in wrinkles and then seals the top, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines while keeping the moisturizers in place to continue to treat the skin.

Garnier

Garnier Skin Renew Daily Anti-Puff Eye Roller received a Cosmo Beauty Award in 2009. This product contains caffeine and is applied with a roll-on applicator, both of which help increase circulation and reduce puffiness around the eyes. Garnier says continued use of the product will not only reduce puffiness, but also help minimize the appearance of dark circles under the eyes, which can make you appear older.

Aveeno

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer won a 2009 Cosmo Best of Beauty Award for Best Moisturizer. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most beneficial product on the market to prevent skin aging is sunscreen. This Aveeno moisturizer provides an SPF of 30, the minimum level recommended by dermatologists, with protection from both UVA and UVB rays. It also contains light diffusers, which minimize the appearance of skin imperfections.
