Arena football is a sport that represents football's growth and hold on the U.S. sporting public. This is a smaller version of the outdoor game. Instead of having 11 players on a team, arena football uses eight players on each side and all but two players play offense and defense. The field is 50 yards long and 85 feet wide. It is played in the same arenas used by ice hockey and basketball teams.
Step 1
Make your offensive game plan one that features the pass. You don't have to go deep on every throw, but it is difficult to consistently make big plays on the ground. The field is too narrow and that makes it almost impossible to run to the outside. Even well-blocked running plays don't get more than a few yards.
Step 2
Work with your quarterback on passing accuracy. Because the field is so small, you don't need a quarterback who throws the ball for a long distance or velocity. His main job is to put the ball where his receiver can catch it and the opponent can't touch it.
Step 3
Use tall receivers when you get on the opponent's side of the field and you can attack the end zone. Officials allow players to battle each other before the ball is caught, so you are much better off having big receivers who can win the physical battle.
Step 4
Pressure the opposing quarterback. The receivers know where they are going and the defensive backs don't. Playing on artificial turf gives the receiver who makes quick and aggressive moves the ability to get open most of the time. The quarterback will usually find him. A defensive lineman who can pressure and sack the quarterback will help the defense hold the opposing offense down.
Step 5
Find an excellent kicker. The field is only 50 yards and that means you are never out of field goal range. Many games are close and decided by single digits. Often the team with the best kicker has the best chance of winning the game.
