While acne isn't harmful to your health, it can be damaging to your self esteem. Acne is more than a few stray pimples, but rather a problem that affects your skin, causing many unsightly bumps that can ruin your complexion and make you feel awkward. Acne doesn't discriminate when it comes to age, affecting not only teenagers but people into their 40s as well. Rather than purchasing the next commercial miracle acne remover, it's easier just to handle it naturally for a fraction of the cost.
Step 1
Mix lemon juice and rose water in equal parts and splash it onto your acne. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes before rinsing it away. The same can be done with mint juice and turmeric powder to eliminate pimples and lighten blemishes.
Step 2
Use an antibacterial soap to wash your face twice daily. Avoid scrubbing your skin too hard, as this will only irritate it. Rinse your face well and pat your skin dry with a soft clean dry towel. Be sure to remove any make up and never go to bed with make up on as this will make acne worse.
Step 3
Stand in a hot shower or hold your face over a pot of boiling water to allow the steam to open up your pores before washing your face. Placing a warm wash cloth over the affected area for 10 to 20 minutes will render the same results.
Step 4
Make changes to your diet to eliminate refined carbohydrates, sugars and greasy foods. Add in more whole grains and fiber and eat more foods such as herring, sesame and sunflower seeds and liver to increase your intake of Zinc. Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated, at least six to eight glasses daily, and avoid things that can dehydrate your body such as caffeine and alcohol.
Step 5
Apply lemon juice to your skin before you go to bed each night after you have washed your face to help eliminate acne. Rinse your face well in the morning.
Tips and Warnings
- Talk to your doctor or dermatologist if your acne is severe and nothing seems to help get rid of it.
- Avoid touching your skin as the oils in your fingertips can make the acne worse. Avoid picking at pimples and blemishes as this will cause it to spread and may leave scars.
