Cellulite makes your skin to appear unsightly, lumpy and unevenly toned. While there are many over-the-counter cellulite creams and lotions, many of these products contain harsh chemicals that can irritate or inflame the skin. Luckily, you can make cellulite cream at home using natural and effective substances, such as castor oil, which acts as a decongestant on the skin.
Step 1
Pour 8 oz. of olive oil and 8 oz. of castor oil into a handled pot, and heat it gradually, stirring it occasionally with a wooden spoon. Place a glass candy thermometer into the oils to gauge the temperature.
Step 2
Place 8 oz. of beeswax into the top section of a double boiler, and fill the bottom section half full of water. Heat the beeswax over medium heat until it melts. Place a glass candy thermometer into the wax to gauge the temperature.
Step 3
Wait until both the oils and the beeswax reach 100 degrees F. Pour the oils and beeswax into a blender, and add in 1 tsp. of tea tree oil. Blend the ingredients for 10 minutes, which will help it to combine properly and will make it light and fluffy.
Step 4
Pour the mixture into a glass container. Place the glass container onto a flat surface, and carefully pour the lotion mixture into the container. Wait until the lotion cools completely, then screw on the lid and refrigerate it until use. When using the lotion, spread 1 tsp. onto the skin, and massage it in deeply with the fingers, moving them in deep, circular motions.
Tips and Warnings
- Heating the oils and wax to the same temperature ensures that the cream will not separate once it has cooled. Castor oil is a non-comedogenic oil that can be used on the skin as a purgative and decongestant. Castor oil can penetrate deeply into the skin, enabling cellulite to be reached when you massage the cream into your skin.
- Keep all hot oils and waxes out of the reach of children.
