Nail clippers can pass bacteria and fungus from one user to another if they are not regularly disinfected. A good disinfecting entails more than a simple cleaning--it should kill all germs and prevent the development of bacteria and fungus.
Step 1
Pour two cups of water into a small pot and heat it over a stove. Bring the water to a boil.
Step 2
Squirt a little liquid soap into the boiling water, then immediately remove it from the burner.
Step 3
Mix 2 tsp. borax into the water.
Step 4
Mix 4 tbsp. vinegar into the water.
Step 5
Drop the nail clippers into the hot water-liquid soap mixture and allow them to soak at the bottom for about 10 minutes.
Step 6
Remove the nail clippers and dry with a rag.
Step 7
Wipe the nail clippers thoroughly with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol. Be sure to wipe the surface of the clippers completely.
Step 8
Dry the clippers with the rag.
