Cellulite can be a huge hindrance to feeling great about yourself, especially during the summer months or in certain clothing. Cellulite is body fat that appears dimpled or bumpy under the skin. It can show up all over the body but most people struggle with cellulite on the legs and butt. According to Mayo Clinic, the best way to permanently fight cellulite is through losing excess body fat with a clean diet and a regular fitness program.
Step 1
Perform aerobic activity at least 30 minutes a day for 5 to 7 days per week. Aerobic activity burns calories and ultimately body fat. Choose activities that you enjoy and that will keep your heart rate elevated. Try running, swimming, aerobics classes, riding a bike or playing a team sport like volleyball.
Step 2
Execute strength training three or four days per week to build lean muscle tissue, boost your metabolism and help reduce the appearance of cellulite. Choose two to four exercises per major muscle group (shoulders, back, stomach, biceps, triceps, quadriceps, hamstrings and calves) and try to complete three sets of eight to 12 repetitions for each exercise.
Step 3
Increase your daily water consumption. Try to drink at least 64 oz. of water daily to stay properly hydrated. According to Shape Fit, dehydration can make cellulite more noticeable.
Step 4
Eat a well-balanced diet each day to remove cellulite and prevent new fat from developing. According to My Pyramid, a healthy diet includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fat-free dairy products, lean meat, beans and nuts. My Pyramid also recommends a diet that is low in trans fat, saturated fat, sodium and excess sugar.
