Clear and healthy skin looks attractive, but there are other benefits that come with it. When your skin is clear and healthy, you spend less time in front of a mirror trying to cover up imperfections. You also use less makeup. It costs less to maintain it. You will discover that a simple routine will help you get clear and healthy skin.
Step 1
Consume foods good for the health of your skin. These foods include Vitamin A foods, such as carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cantaloupe, mango and apricots. Vitamin A foods help maintain healthy skin function. Also eat Vitamin C foods, such as tomatoes, oranges, grapefruit, bell peppers and strawberries, to aid collagen production. Eat bananas and green leafy vegetables to combat skin dryness. Take in adequate water to flush toxins from the body (six to eight glasses a day), and drink the juice from watermelon. Do not eat foods such as red meat or fried foods, as these foods work against clear skin.
Step 2
Do some form of exercise every day to get your blood flowing. Blood delivers oxygen and nutrients to all the cells in your body and skin becomes toned when blood circulation is stimulated. Engage yourself in a fun exercise, such as dancing or swimming.
Step 3
Wash your face once in the morning and once at night with a gentle cleanser that contains Castile soap. Use a toner that contains hydrating aloe vera on your skin. Exfoliate your skin to keep it healthy and young looking. Use a mask to nourish and hydrate your skin once a week. Moisturize your skin after washing it and apply the moisturizer before your skin has completely dried. Keep greasy hair away from your face. Do not touch your face.
Step 4
Protect your skin by keeping it covered as much as possible when you are out in the sun to prevent the development of skin cancer. Wear clothes that give maximum protection from the sun. Wear sunglasses wide enough to cover your temples. Apply a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 to areas of your body exposed to the sun. Stay out of the sun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. because this is when the sun's rays are most powerful.
Step 5
Avoid stress. Handle stress to the best of your ability. If you can, avoid it altogether. Stress can cause your skin to break out. Take deep breathes when you feel stressed. Keep yourself in a calm state by practicing meditation. Get a massage or a reflexology treatment to calm your nerves when you feel stressed.
