Hair loss is a natural part of life and can occur when the body is experiencing an illness or disease, due to heredity, or as a result of aging. While there are a few hair care products on the market designed to encourage new hair cell development, they often contain chemical ingredients that can irritate and inflame the scalp. Luckily, there are natural methods for increasing hair cell growth that do not use chemical ingredients that can cause irritation.

Step 1

Apply tea tree oil to the scalp to increase blood flow to the hair follicles. Pour 2 Tbsp of castor oil into your hand, and mix two drops of tea tree oil into it. Spread the mixture onto your scalp, and use your fingers to gently massage it in for three minutes. Allow the tea tree oil mixture to remain on the scalp for an additional five minutes, then shampoo the hair as usual. Apply tea tree oil to the scalp once per day.

Step 2

Massage the scalp with a prong-style hairbrush to stimulate the hair follicles. Place the hairbrush on your scalp and move it around your head using a moderate pressure and circular movements. Work from one side of the head to the other, focusing on the areas that are the most affected by hair loss or where you wish to grow thicker hair. Massage the scalp with a prong-style hairbrush for 15 minutes, once per day.

Step 3

Use a clarifying shampoo to remove dead skin cells that could suffocate the hair follicles. Pour 2 to 3 Tbsp of clarifying shampoo into your hands, and spread it onto wet hair. Use your fingers to work the shampoo into a rich lather, then rinse the shampoo out completely. Use a clarifying shampoo two times per day for three days, then once per day after that.

Tips and Warnings

  • Tea tree oil is helpful in encouraging blood circulation around the scalp. When combined with castor oil, which can absorb into the deeper layers of the skin, tea tree oil can effectively help blood and oxygen to reach inside the follicles to stimulate new hair growth. When using a prong-style hair brush, move the brush in circular motions to stimulate the hair follicles, focusing on the areas that are the thinnest, or that you wish to have more hair growth. Clarifying shampoos can be used once per day to remove impurities and skin that can prevent the hair follicles from receiving enough oxygen and blood flow.
