While many babies love milk, there are those who will resist when it comes to drinking milk. Pediatricians recommend not giving cow's milk to babies until after their first birthday. Once your baby turns one, you can slowly introduce milk into her diet.

Step 1

Add a small amount of milk in with your baby's bottle filled with formula. This will allow the baby to get used to the new flavor slowly. Over the next two weeks, gradually adjust the ratio from 1/4 milk and 3/4 formula to half and half, and then 3/4 milk and 1/4 formula. At the end of two weeks, you can give your baby whole milk.

Step 2

Give your baby milk in a spill-proof cup. A spill-proof cup with a soft spout is most like a bottle and may keep your baby's interest in the milk longer than a hard spout.

Step 3

Offer milk with your baby's rice cereal. Use whole milk to moisten the dry cereal, giving your baby an extra serving of milk.

Step 4

Give baby milk with meals and snacks. Your baby should like a drink with her snack and this will allow her to get a serving of milk along with a meal, just like her parents.

Things You'll Need

  • Bottle
  • Spill-proof cup
  • Cereal
