The best foods should also reduce your risks for health problems, like heart disease and diabetes, and be low in calories to avoid obesity.

Berries

Berries are available in a variety of taste, flavors and colors. There are blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, cranberries and more. These natural delicious-tasting treats are rich in phytonutrients.

Apples

Apples are a good source of Vitamin C and pectin. Pectin is a soluble fiber that can lower blood glucose and cholesterol levels, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Sweet Potatoes

This sweet vegetable is a good source of fiber and beta-carotene, an antioxidant that is converted into Vitamin A in the body. Sweet potatoes are low in calories and contain potassium, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and folate.

Broccoli
