A bladder infection is known in the medical community as Cystitis. A bladder infection is considered a Urinary Tract Infection. There are symptoms that you may display with a bladder infection that will help your physician diagnose your condition. At the doctor's office, a simple urine test is all that is necessary in most occasions to diagnose a bladder infection, and antibiotics can be prescribed to cure your infection.
Urgency
Most people suffering from bladder infections experience urgency to urinate. You may feel as though your bladder is full only to urinate a very small amount. You may also feel the need to urinate very often and feel that you must use the bathroom immediately without the ability to hold your urine.
Burning with Urination
When you urinate, you may experience a burning sensation. This burning sensation is usually felt in the urethra, which is the part of the urinary tract where the urine exits the body. Some people experience this burning as moderate to severe pain.
Cloudy or Bloody Urine
A common sign of a bladder infection is cloudy urine. The urine will not be clear and may have a foul odor associated with it. Additionally, severe bladder infections may create blood that appears in the urine. These symptoms can be signs of other conditions such as kidney damage, so a visit to your physician is necessary as soon as possible.
Abdominal Pain
You may experience abdominal pain when suffering from a bladder infection. Most people experience the pain close to the pubic mound, but the pain may radiate as high as right below the ribs and around to the lower back of the body.
Fever
You may experience a fever when suffering from a bladder infection. Not everyone experiences a fever with this condition. A normal body temperature for an adult is 97.6 degrees to 99.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Providing your Physician with any recent history of a fever can assist in his diagnosis and treatment of your condition.
