Fiber plays many important roles in a healthy diet. In addition to preventing constipation, fiber can help you lose weight, control your blood sugar and have better cholesterol levels. A breakfast or snack of high-fiber cereal is a good way to increase your daily fiber intake. Clemson University Cooperative Extension recommends cereals with 5 grams of fiber or more per ounce.

General Mills

General Mills' Fiber One Original cereal provides 14 grams of fiber per serving. Fiber One Raisin Bran Clusters provides 11 grams of fiber per serving. Fiber One Shredded Wheat provides 9 grams of fiber per serving.

Kashi

Kashi Good Friends cereal provides 12 grams of fiber per serving. Kashi GOLEAN Original cereal provides 10 grams of fiber per serving. Kashi GOLEAN Crunch and Good Friends Crunch each provide 8 grams of fiber per serving. Kashi 7 Whole Grain Cereal Flakes and GOLEAN Instant Hot Cereal provide 6 grams of fiber per serving.

Kellogg's

Kellogg's All-Bran Bran Buds cereal provides 13 grams of fiber per serving, about 50 percent of an adult's daily requirement, while Kellogg's All-Bran Original cereal provides 10 grams of fiber per serving. Kellogg's Raisin Bran and Raisin Bran Extra! cereals provide 7 grams of fiber per serving. Kellogg's Cracklin' Oat Bran cereal provides 6 grams of fiber per serving. Kellogg's All-Bran Complete Wheat Flakes provides 5 grams of fiber per serving.

Post

Post Raisin Bran cereal provides 8 grams of fiber per serving. Post Grape-Nuts provides 7 grams of fiber per serving. Post Original Shredded Wheat provides 6 grams of fiber per serving. Post Bran Flakes provides 5 grams of fiber per serving.

Quaker

Quaker High Fiber Instant Oatmeal provides 10 grams of fiber per serving. Quaker Oat Bran cereal and Quaker Weight Control Instant Oatmeal each provide 6 grams of fiber per serving.

Uncle Sam

Uncle Sam cereal, a mix of flaxseed and flakes made from whole grain wheat, provides 10 grams of fiber per serving, about 40 percent of an adult's daily requirement.
