If you feel tired, sluggish, your stomach hurts or you are constipated, then you may have a colon that isn't properly functioning. Cleaning your colon will reverse all these symptoms. An unhealthy colon creates toxins and passes them onto the entire body. Eating bananas is a natural, easy way you can clean your colon in the comfort of your own home. Bananas are rich in fiber. Fiber is very important to your colon because it helps stimulate bowel contractions and makes healthy bacteria for your body. Fiber gets rid of harmful materials in your body and absorbs nutrients. By eating lots of bananas and drinking lots of water, you can increase your fiber intake and quickly clean your colon.

Step 1

Buy lots of bananas. Bananas are loaded with fiber. Fiber controls overeating, reduces cholesterol, and controls fat absorption in the body. Bananas are one of the top five fruits with the most fiber. Fiber helps push the foods you eat through your system at a healthy rate and stops food from building up, which causes constipation. The Mayo Clinic in Rochester recommends adding fruits like bananas to your diet to clean out the colon.

Step 2

Figure out the right amount of bananas to eat. The American Dietetic Association (ADA) recommends adults take at least 20 g of fiber per day. If you want to clean your colon faster, the ADA recommends 35 g per day. However, if you are constipated or have not been getting enough fiber in your diet, start with 15 g of finer and add 5 g of fiber per day until you get to 35 g. Since one banana has about 3 g of fiber per day, you will need to eat quite a few bananas through the course of the day to get enough fiber. Take seven bananas for 20 g of fiber, eat about 12 bananas for 35 g of fiber per day.

Step 3

Take fiber pills. If you cannot eat as many bananas per day as the ADA recommends, you can add in fiber supplements to get to your desired fiber dosage. For example, if your goal is 35 g of fiber and you only eat five bananas for the day, you must add 20 g of fiber to your diet. Fiber supplements come in a pill form or in powder form. Simply swallow the pill or add the powder to a glass of water.

Step 4

Drink lots of water. Fiber absorbs water very quickly and can cause constipation, bloating and gas. Water itself can also help restore your colon to a healthy state. You will know when your colon is starting to feel the effects of your high fiber diet when your skin looks clearer, your digestion improver, and your digestion and bowel moments improve and regulate. Drink at least eight 8 oz. glasses of water to help the fiber move through your system quickly and without side effects.
