Hair growth depends on many factors, including health, genetics, aging and how often the hair is exposed to harsh chemical treatments, such as bleaching and perming. Although a few hair products on the market can encourage the scalp to grow more hair, these products often contain strong chemicals that can irritate the scalp. Luckily, there are treatments that can stimulate hair growth that use natural methods that will not irritate the scalp.
Step 1
Massage the scalp with castor oil and tea tree oil. These which will stimulate the scalp and increase blood flow to the hair follicles. Pour 2 tbsp. castor oil and 2 drops of tea tree oil into your hand, and carefully spread the oil onto your scalp. Use your fingers to massage the oils deeply into the scalp for around three minutes. Shampoo the hair afterward, and repeat twice per day.
Step 2
Vibrate the scalp to encourage blood flow to the area, which will bring more oxygen o the hair follicles. Turn on a vibrating massager, which can be purchased at any bath and body store, and move the massager around the scalp for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat twice per day.
Step 3
Cleanse the scalp with a clarifying shampoo to remove dead skin cells and oil build-up, which can suffocate the hair follicles. Wet your hair thoroughly with water. Pour 2 tbsp. of clarifying shampoo into your hands, and spread the shampoo onto your scalp. Massage the scalp and the hair to create a rich lather, and rinse the lather out of the hair with water. Repeat twice per day during the first week, then once per day thereafter.
Tips and Warnings
- Massaging the scalp stimulates the follicles and helps oxygen reach the developing hair cells. This not only increases the rate at which hair cells can develop, but it allows the hair to grow in thicker and stronger. It is helpful to use beneficial oils, such as tea tree and castor oil, that can remove bacteria and microbes that can inhibit hair growth. Using a clarifying shampoo removes dead skin cells and scalp oil build-up, which can clog and suffocate the hair follicles. It is helpful to wash the scalp twice per day with a clarifying shampoo to remove build-up; reduce the frequency to once per day to maintain a clean scalp.
