After an ankle injury, it is common practice to wear some form of supportive or protective device, such as an ankle brace. The Swedo-O company carries a multitude of braces for almost every body part and produces a wide range of braces for the ankle. Many Swede-O ankle braces require lacing to hold the brace in place once applied. Proper lacing of the brace is required to provide optimal support.

Swedo-O brace With Laces

Step 1

Put on a sock. It is best to wear a taller sock so the brace is not in direct contact with the skin.

Step 2

Pull on the brace over the sock. The Swede-O pulls on the same way a sock is put on. There is a cut out in the back of the brace for the heel.

Step 3

Thread the laces through the eyelets by alternating the left and right lace so the laces cross in the middle. Some Swede-O braces have a flap behind the eyelets to help hold the laces in place, and the eyelets are spaced closely to allow for strong support.

Step 4

Pull the laces so they are snug against the brace.

Step 5

Tie the laces at the top as if tying a shoe lace.

Step 6

Tighten the brace as needed during activity by pulling the laces tight and retying the brace.

Step 1

Take hold of the strap on the medial side of the brace, pull it across the front laces, around the bottom of the foot, and secure it to the Velcro on the medial side.

Step 2

Take hold of the strap on the lateral side of the brace, pull it across the laces and medial strap, around the bottom of the foot, and secure it to the Velcro on the lateral side.

Step 3

Take hold of the strap at the top of the brace and pull it around the brace, securing it to the Velcro provided.
