Men suffer from ED, or erectile dysfunction, and women suffer from FSAD, or female sexual arousal disorder. Dr. David Delvin, family planning specialist, and Christine Webber, psychotherapist, state that low libido is common in women and rare in men. Many reasons for this condition exist, and include medications, medical conditions, stress and anxiety. Treatment options are available for women who suffer from this condition, it is simply a matter of finding what works the best for each individual.

Step 1

Talk to your gynecologist. Before trying any natural remedies, it is a good idea to seek the advice of your gynecologist. He can give you a complete exam and test for any underlying medical conditions that may be the culprit of your lack of desire.

Step 2

Talk to a sex therapist. The Mayo Clinic says a therapist may be able to help you work through the emotional and psychological issues that are contributing factors in your problem. In addition, she can teach you techniques which may heighten your sexual response, and recommend books to read that contain exercises for you and your mate to perform together; exercises which can help increase your intimacy and stimulation.

Step 3

Open up to your partner about your problem. There is no doubt that a low sex drive has a profound impact on your relationship. However if you open the lines of communication and emotion, be completely honest and tell your partner how you are feeling and why, it may just lead to a better sex life. The Mayo Clinic states that talking about your likes and dislikes sets the stage for a better sex life.

Step 4

Make time for exercise. Exercising on a regular basis, whether it be aerobic, strength training or both, not only increases your strength and stamina, it can help improve the way you see yourself, thus improving your self-esteem. Over time this may help improve your mood and increase your libido.

Step 5

Perform Kegel exercises. Kegel exercises on a daily basis can help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles, the muscles responsible for the pleasurable sensations you feel during sexual intercourse. To perform them, tighten the muscles in in your pelvis as if you are stopping yourself from urinating. Hold this contraction for a count of five and release the hold. Repeat 10 to 15 times, and practice three times a day.

Step 6

Undergo hormone therapy. Estrogen plays a vital role in female sexual functioning. Therefore, you may find estrogen therapy helpful when attempting to increase your libido if your levels are low. Estrogen therapy can be in the form of a pill, patch or gel.
It may also be local, coming in the form of a vaginal cream or slow-releasing vaginal suppository ring, both of which increase blood flow to the vaginal area.
