Cellulite is one of the most challenging and disturbing skin problems affecting thousands of women worldwide. Cellulite is basically unformed fat that pushes against your connective tissues under the skin. Cellulite can affect men, but is more common in women. People of all shapes and sizes can get cellulite. You also don't have to be overweight to get it. There are innumerable causes of cellulite including diminished blood circulation, weakened connective tissue and enlarged fat cells. Cellulite can often appear around the thighs, buttocks, arms, legs and stomach.
Step 1
Apply an over-the-counter anti-cellulite cream to help reduce the appearance of cellulite. There are numerous anti-cellulite creams from which to choose at your local health food store or pharmacy. These creams work by smoothing and lifting the surface layer of your skin to lessen the appearance of the cellulite. However, theses creams will only lessen the appearance of cellulite, not eliminate it completely. In addition, it can take up to 4 to 6 months before you start seeing results, and the effects of these creams last only as long as the cream is being used.
Step 2
Undergo mesotherapy to eliminate cellulite. This cosmetic procedure is painless and involves introducing small amounts of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals under the affected skin areas to dissolve the cellulite while improving lymphatic and venous drainage and blood circulation. Mesotherapy is a safe cosmetic procedure when done by a trained physician. It normally takes about 15 to 20 sessions before you can see the results of the procedure. A cosmetic surgeon or physician will have more information about mesotherapy.
Step 3
Consult a cosmetic surgeon or dermatologist about removing cellulite. These medical specialists can assess your skin and advise you of the latest cellulite removal therapies, which can help make your skin smoother and firmer, thereby lessening the appearance of cellulite.
Step 4
Stop eating foods which are high in saturated fat, cholesterol or both. These kinds of foods include sugary pastries, egg yolks, ice cream and meats (sausage, jerky and processed meats). Instead, maintain your weight and add plenty of healthy fruits and vegetables to your diet. Foods low in fat and calories can keep you healthy and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
