Painful to both skin and pride, acne leaves an unsightly distraction that's written all over our face. While some people are genetically prone to acne, others bring it on themselves by poor diet and hygiene. Whatever the reason, it's time to get rid of it. While you may not have perfect skin overnight, there are several things you can do to be on your way to clear skin soon.
Step 1
Wash your face twice daily with an acne or antibacterial soap. Standing in a hot shower or placing a warm cloth over your face for a few minutes can help to open up your pores before you wash. Avoid vigorous scrubbing as this can lead to scars. Rinse your face well and pat your skin dry with a soft clean dry towel. Be sure to wash your face before you go to bed each night and don't go to bed with makeup on, as this will only clog your pores.
Step 2
Apply white non-gel toothpaste to individual pimples and leave it in place for 25 minutes. This will reduce the redness and help the pimple to go away faster. This is helpful if you have one particularly large pimple that won't go away.
Step 3
Dip a clean cloth or cotton ball in fresh lemon juice and apply it to your skin where the acne is right before you go to bed. Rinse your face with warm water in the morning.
Step 4
Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated and your system flushed. Six to eight glasses of water daily should be plenty. Avoid caffeine and alcohol as these tend to dehydrate the body.
Step 5
Keep your hair off of your face and keep your fingers off too. There are oils in both your fingertips and your hair that can make acne worse. Change your pillowcase ever couple of days as well to avoid putting oils back onto your face.
