Whatever you choose to eat during the course of the day is your diet. When you have made the decision to lose weight, you are actually changing your diet, not going on one. To help aid you in your attempt, you can use some fast dieting tips. If you fall off the wagon from time to time, just start right up again and get back on course. This is to be expected when you make lifestyle changes.

Reduction

For weight loss to even occur, you need to create a caloric deficit where you are burning more than you are consuming. Reduce your daily intake, but do not go overboard. Aim for a 500 to 1,000 calorie reduction. This can lead to 1 to 2 pounds per week of lost weight.

Balance

Low carb diets are often followed when people want to lose weight in a hurry. Although they may effectively satisfy this need, they are also hard to stick with, and the long tern effects are uncertain. Play it safe and follow a diet that is balanced with protein, complex carbs and healthy fats. Use good judgment when selecting your food choices. Stay away from saturated fats, foods that are cooked in butter, deep fried foods and sugar-coated confections. Eat foods that are nutrient-dense like fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish, nuts, seeds, whole grans, low-fat dairy and beans.

Water

Water is an important nutrient in the body that can not only spare you calories, but it can also keep you hydrated. Drink water in place of all other beverages that contain sugar or calories such as beer, soda, fruit drinks, lattes, milkshakes and sweetened teas. Aim for 8 to 10 cups a day.

Breakfast

Skipping breakfast can lead to eating binges later in the morning on foods that you are trying to avoid. It can also keep your metabolism running slow and compromise your mental and physical energy. Have a nutritious meal as soon as you get up to prevent these negative circumstances. It doesn't have to be something complicated either. A cup of yogurt with chopped nuts and fruit mixed in is a simple preparation.

Six Meals a Day

Eating six meals a day is an eating strategy that has a number of benefits. It can keep your metabolism elevated, it can give you sustained energy levels, and it can also keep you feeling satisfied. Consume meals that are balanced with protein and complex carbs. Cottage cheese with crushed pineapple and sunflower seeds mixed in is a meal example. Do not go more than 3 hours without eating a small meal.
