For most women menstrual periods are a part of everyday life. Sometimes menstrual periods can come as a surprise, being early, late or not happening at all. There are reasons that a period can be early for some women.

Pheromones

Like any other animals, women emit pheromones to attract mates. This also means women react to pheromones that others give off. Interestingly enough, menstrual cycles are one of the things that respond to pheromones. The introduction of dominant males into your life will alter menstrual cycles to be more fertile when his testosterone is the highest. Also, there is speculation that menstrual cycles of women synchronize when living together in close proximity.

Body Fat Levels

Changes in body weight and fitness level will naturally change the amount of hormones a woman emits and the date of her cycle. It is also noted that athletes and other women with low body fat have even stopped periods completely during competition phases, when their activity levels are the highest.

Stress

Stress also shifts the body's natural level of hormones, causing periods to come later, earlier or not at all. Stresses can be physical, menta, or chemical, and all of these can alter your body's natural hormonal function.
