Belching is an embarrassing experience for many people, and some would go as far as to call it a serious problem. Knowing the causes of gas can help someone eliminate embarrassment and provide more comfort in his life.

Swallowing Air

Part of the big reason why a person may release gas from the mouth is because air too much air entered the stomach. The stomach is not meant to manage air, and can only handle air through belching or flatulence. With that in mind, its very unlikely that you will ever be without gas, and it is completely normal. Breathing through your nose and not gulping your food and drinks will prevent excess air from getting inside the intestinal tract.

Indigestion

Whatever food that is not digested properly in the mouth will have to be properly digested in the intestines. When food air pockets are broken down in the stomach, it is released as gas. This gas will either dissipate as a belch or as flatulence. Certain foods will produce more gas than others, but it is different for everyone. Keeping a journal of belching and meals will help identify these foods.

GERD

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), is a serious illness that causes excessive belching. Anti-gas medications do not help with this disease.
