Hair loss and thinning can occur as a result of aging, illness, fatigue and genetics. When the hair has thinned, it can affect how young and vibrant you look. Although there are over-the-counter hair products on the market that can increase hair growth, they often contain strong chemicals that can irritate and inflame the scalp. Luckily, by following a routine that stimulates the hair follicles and eliminates scalp buildup, hair can be encouraged to grow in thicker, quicker, and naturally.

Step 1

Massage the scalp with tea tree oil to stimulate the hair follicles. Combine 1 tbsp. castor oil and 2 drops tea tree oil in a small bowl. Spread the oils onto the scalp, and use your fingers to massage the oil in for at least 10 minutes. Allow the oils to remain on the scalp for an additional five minutes, then shampoo the hair as normal. Massage the scalp with tea tree oil up to two times per day.

Step 2

Brush the hair with a prong-style hairbrush to encourage proper blood circulation to the scalp. Place a prong-style hairbrush onto the scalp, and brush the scalp in circular movements until the entire head has been brushed for at least 15 minutes. The scalp should be brushed with a prong-style hairbrush twice per day.

Step 3

Wash the scalp with a clarifying shampoo to remove dead skin cell buildup. Wet the hair and the scalp thoroughly, and spread 2 tbsp. of clarifying shampoo onto the scalp. Massage the shampoo into the scalp, creating a rich lather, then rinse the lather off after two minutes. Use a clarifying shampoo twice a day for a week, then once a day thereafter.

Tips and Warnings

  • Helpful Information: Massaging and brushing the scalp encourages more blood circulation around the hair follicles, which helps more oxygen reach the developing hair cells. Not only will the new hair cells develop more quickly, but they will grow in stronger and thicker. Using a clarifying shampoo removes dead skin cells, excess oils, bacteria and scalp buildup that can clog the hair follicles and suffocate developing hair cells. It is helpful to use a clarifying shampoo twice a day during the first week to remove the scalp buildup, then reduce the frequency to once a day to maintain a clear scalp.
