Switch to Decaffeinated Beverages

Program Description
Studies have shown that too much caffeine can many you jittery and anxious, worsen PMS symptoms, contribute to osteoporosis, cause birth defects and a litany of other health concerns. But it can still be hard to resist that coffee. Here are some low-caffeine and caffeine-free alternatives for your morning cuppa.

Actions
1. Black teas (such as Earl Grey, English Breakfast, or chai) have a quarter of the caffeine of coffee, green tea has even less and white tea has practically none.

2. Red tea, also known as rooibos or African bush tea, has a rich, satisfying flavor and is completely caffeine-free.

3. Herbal tea blends are also caffeine-free, and they are available in a practically limitless variety of fruity or spiced flavors.

4. Coffee can be decaffeinated either by treating it with chemicals or by soaking the green coffee beans in water--choose Swiss water processed decaf coffee for a more natural caffeine-free beverage.

5. Caffeine-free herbal coffee substitutes, such as roasted barely, chicory root or dandelion root, have a full-bodied, nutty flavor and can be brewed just like coffee.

6. Hot cocoa contains very small amounts of caffeine and is a sweet way to start your day.
