Body hair comes in the form of vellus hair, which is fine and light, and terminal hair, which is dark and thick. Men and women both experience growth of body hair, and for some it is more of an annoyance than a pleasurable body feature. As far as the best hair removal products go, it's really just a matter of preference.

Wax

Waxing is done with the aid of hot wax and a durable cloth strip. The wax gets applied to your skin and is left on for a predetermined time period to set. The strip then gets flattened out over top of the wax and it is then ripped off in a fast motion. The hair is pulled out by the roots and it doesn't grow back for several weeks. This can be done at home with a kit or you can get it done professionally at a spa or salon.

Depilatories

Depilatories are creams, gels or aerosols that are applied to the skin and left on for several minutes. During this time, the active ingredients in the depilatory break down the keratin in hair, which is what gives it strength. The hair then gets wiped off with a plastic tool or wash cloth. This type of removal can last a few days to a few weeks. Before using a depilatory on a larger area of hair, you should run a small test on your forearm.

Tweezers

Tweezers come in straight and 45-degree-angle types. These are beneficial at removing hairs found in sparse areas like in between the eyes, in the nose, in the ears or on moles. When using tweezers, grab the hair close to the skin and pull straight out in a smooth, continuous motion. Do not yank as this can cause the hairs to break off.

Razors

Shaving is done with the aid of shaving cream and a new razor blade. You wash your skin and leave it wet, then use short, smooth strokes with the razor blade to remove the hair. If you move the razor in the opposite direction of the hair growth, you will get a closer shave, but you'll have more chances of getting ingrown hairs. This process can be made easier for long hair by first removing most of the length of hair with a pair of electric shears. If you want to get a closer shave, you can use a triple blade razor that flexes to follow the contour of your skin.

Epilators

Epilators are hand-held devices that look like electric shavers. In similar fashion to tweezers, they pluck hairs out by the roots. The difference with these and tweezers is that they pull out multiple hairs at a time.
