A volleyball tournament will let all participating teams know how they stand in comparison to other competing teams. When you are putting together a bracket for the tournament, it is usually an end-of-season competition that will determine your league's championship. You will want to seed the teams that are competing based on their regular-season performance.
Step 1
Work your bracket so you have eight teams once you get to the quarterfinal round. This is easy if you have a league with eight or 16 teams in it. But if you have a different number, you will need to get creative. In a 10-team league, you can have the seventh-place finisher play the 10th-place finisher and the eighth-place finisher play the ninth-place team. The two winners would become the seventh and eighth teams in the bracket. This can be done with any number of teams who you want to compete. All matches are best-of-five, meaning the first team to win three games wins the match.
Step 2
Seed the teams so the highest finisher in your league's regular season plays the lowest-finisher in the first round. The No. 2 seed plays the No. 7 seed, the No. 3 seed plays the No. 6 seed and the No. 4 seed plays the No. 5 seed.
Step 3
Reseed the teams after the first round. Say the No. 1 team won its match, but the No. 2 team lost, while the No. 3 and No. 4 teams won. That would set up a match between the No. 1 team and the No. 7 team in the semifinals and the No. 3 and No. 4 teams in the other semifinal.
Step 4
Schedule the final in your tournament between the two semifinal winners. Give the two teams competing one day off to prepare physically and mentally for the match.
