Getting Into The Zone With Your Diet

The Zone diet was developed by Dr. Barry Sears, and is based on eating the right types of foods that put your body into "The Zone." According to The Zone diet, you eat in such a manner to ensure that you keep several of your most important hormones (insulin, glucagon and eicosanoids) within the proper ranges for optimal health. To stay in The Zone, you will need to eat every four to five hours after a meal or two to two-and-a-half hours after a snack, whether you are hungry or not. Every meal and snack should include a low fat protein (such as fish or chicken breast), a carbohydrate (such as vegetables and fruits and use of grains and pastas as condiments), and a healthy fat (such as raw almonds or olive oil). There are three different distinct stages that you go through when following The Zone diet.

1. Eat to Keep Hormones in Proper Ranges
2. Meals Need to Include a Balance of Carbohydrate, Protein, and Fat
3. Keep Track of Timing of Meals and Snacks
4. Meal Plan Should Include 3 Meals and 2 Snacks
5. Follow the Three Stages of Entering the Zone
