A pedicure involves improving the appearance of your feet. Whether the pedicure is done by yourself at home or by a professional, it may include cleaning, scrubbing, buffing and moisturizing of the feet. It usually includes care of the nails and cuticles and nail polish. Without proper care, the results of the pedicure may not last long. You can maintain the feeling and appearance of your pedicured feet by taking steps to care for your feet at home.
Step 1
Clean your feet daily with soap and warm water. Dry them thoroughly.
Step 2
Apply a moisturizer to your feet after cleaning them and before bedtime. Be sure to get moisturizer in the areas between your toes.
Step 3
Use a special foot scrub or scrubbing brush on your feet once a week. This will exfoliate the skin on your feet, removing dead skin cells and allowing growth of new healthy skin.
Step 4
Wear cotton socks that won't irritate the skin on your feet and will allow the skin to breathe.
Step 5
Apply a top coat of clear nail polish to your toenails once a week. The clear polish will act as a protective barrier for your nail and will protect any colored polish.
Step 6
Clip or file your toenails regularly. Be sure to clip the nail straight across to prevent ingrown toenails.
