The current point guide calculation formula for Weight Watchers is copyrighted and can't be republished without permission. It is available to members, however. Some simply use the old points calculation formula, which is as follows: Points = [Calories/50] + [grams of fiber/5] + [grams of fat/12]. There is a limit of four fiber grams per serving.

These reference guides are a handy tool for those tracking caloric intake, as they cover foods without nutritional labels, from produce to restaurant meals. Soon, dieters know the point values of many of their favorite foods without looking.
4. Engage in Physical Activity
Those following the Weight Watchers diet can earn extra points through physical activity and exercise. These earned points may then be consumed, but only on the same day they are earned. If not consumed they are lost--along with a bit of weight. This system encourages exercise, and dieters can choose how to "spend" their earned points under the Flex Plan.
5. Count Calories with the Point Guide
The reason Weight Watchers helps users lose weight when followed correctly is that it shows you how to eat fewer calories than you burn. The diet is not focused on nutrition, as any and all foods are allowed, from donuts to Big Macs and apples to spinach.
