Fishing is a popular sport and pastime enjoyed by young and old alike. Sooner or later, all fishermen will need to add new line to a fishing pole. This is an easy procedure that can be done quickly. In order to achieve optimal results, make sure to securely attach the old line to the new line. A weak attachment can result in the lines coming untied.
Step 1
Pull the old line off the reel through the line guides until there is adequate room on the spool for the new line. Make sure to leave enough line from the spool to thread through the rod guides and past the end of the rod.
Step 2
Securely attach the new line to the end of the old line using a sturdy knot.
Step 3
Lay the new spool of line on the ground or floor so that it will come off the spool the same way it goes onto the reel. Hold the line tightly, slowly adding the new line to the reel. Make sure that the reel is spooled tightly. Continue reeling in the new line until the spool is to within an eighth of an inch of the spool lip.
