Pulmicort is the brand name in the United States for budesonide. It's a prescription-level drug used in the treatment of asthma by helping to prevent the onset of symptoms. Pulmicort is a corticosteroid that prevents swelling or inflammation in your lungs. This decreases the severity of attacks of asthma. The Mayo Clinic says budesonide may be prescribed along with other medications for asthma, including bronchodilators.
