1. Sticking to a Basic Diet is Important
There are many sound diets that aid in helping prevent and/or treat people with cancer, whether it is skin cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer or prostate cancer. With all balanced diets, diets for people with cancer are encouraged to consume a diet of fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grains, and adhere to a moderate intake of protein. However, most all cancer diets strongly advise to cut out and/or limit all refined sugar, as it has been noted that cancer cells feed off of sugar and seem to grow more rapidly.

Research has found that vegetables contain components that can prevent cancer and provide the protection against cancer in its many forms. Some vegetables to include in a cancer diet would be umbelliferous vegetables, such as carrots, celery, cilantro, parsley and parsnip. 3. Benefits of Flaxseed in a Diet for People with Cancer
Besides being a great source of omega-3 fatty acid, flaxseed is rich in lignan. Lignan is a type phytoestrogen, better known as an antioxidant. Research has shown that lignan in flaxseed helps in fighting disease, including in aiding in the prevention cancer. It is has been noted that lignan metabolites can bind to estrogen receptors, working to inhibit the onset of estrogen-stimulated breast cancer. If you or someone you know has cancer or wants to take preventative measures, you can start adding flaxseed to your diet in your cereal or on salads.
4. Limit Grilled Meat When Concerned About Cancer
More and more research suggests a link between eating grilled meats, particularly those that are well cooked or burned, and cancer. It seems to increase the risk for some types of cancer. Cancer-causing components can be found in high concentrations in grilled meats, including those of beef, pork, poultry and fish that have been cooked at high temperatures. However, with a few modifications, you can enjoy the pleasures of cooking on your grill. Just try to limit how many times a week you do grill meat to two to three days and be sure that you do not over-cook or burn it, as this is where the cancer-causing components (better known as carcinogens) are found in high concentration.
5. Helpful Supplements for People with Cancer
A supplement that has gained quite a bit of popularity in the last few years, and would be valuable to add to a diet for people with cancer, is CoQ10. The possible benefits of CoQ10 supplements are found in the prevention and treatment of cancer. CoQ10 supplements can be found in either powder capsules or oil-based soft gel capsules. It has been noted that CoQ10 acts as an antioxidant in protecting the body from free radical damage and aids in stimulating the immune system.
