When reviewing diet plans, you may decide that you want to try out Jenny Craig. Jenny Craig is a calorie-controlled diet that encourages you to use the company's brand food to lose weight. The meals from Jenny Craig are portion controlled and can be prepared at home. Three meals and a one snack are allowed per day on the diet. Speak to your doctor before going on Jenny Craig to determine if this is the appropriate weight-loss plan for you.

Step 1

Consider the calorie allowances. When you go on Jenny Craig, your caloric intake is limited to 1,200 to 1,300 calories per day. If this is reducing your normal caloric intake by 500 to 1,000, you can expect to lose an average of one to two pounds per week.

Step 2

Review food choices. When rating Jenny Craig, you'll want to see what types of meal options are available. You may want to compare this to other prepackaged diet mealmakers such as Weight Watchers and Nutrisystem. Some food choices on the diet are vegetarian chili, lemon dessert bars, maple nut cereal, chicken noodle soup, spaghetti with meatballs and chocolate-chip cookies.

Step 3

Look at the price. Joining Jenny Craig is not going to be cheap since the price you pay for membership does not include the cost of food. Membership includes personalized exercise goals, weight monitoring and meal plan ideas. Besides purchasing the Jenny Craig meals, you are expected to supplement with fresh food options, like vegetables, fruits, dairy and whole grains.

Step 4

Determine the level of convenience of Jenny Craig. You may find it inconvenient to attend weekly weigh-in sessions. However, you may find having your meals planned out and prepackaged to be convenient.

Step 5

Read what other dieters are saying about Jenny Craig. User and editor reviews can help you rate Jenny Craig and determine if this is the right weight-loss plan for you. For example, Diet.com has editor and user reviews along with a five-star rating system.
