Hair loss and thinning hair is a common occurrence that can happen due to aging, heredity, disease or illness, or overuse of hair care products. When hair is thinning and weak, it can affect the overall vitality and youthfulness of your entire look. Fortunately, there are natural ways to encourage new hair growth that will help the hair grow in faster, stronger and more vibrant. Over time, hair will become thicker and will allow you to feel more youthful.

Step 1

Apply a scalp massage to encourage blood circulation around the follicles. Pour 2 tbsp. of castor oil into your palm, and add three drops of tea tree oil into it. Spread the oils onto your scalp, and massage the oils into your scalp using deep, circular finger motions. After three to four minutes, shampoo the hair as usual to remove the oils. Massage the scalp with oils once per day.

Step 2

Use a clarifying shampoo to remove scalp buildup that can suffocate the hair follicles. Wet your hair and scalp thoroughly, and spread 2 to 3 tbsp. of clarifying shampoo onto your scalp. Use your fingers to massage the shampoo into your scalp, creating a rich lather. After two minutes, rinse out your hair well with warm water. Apply a clarifying shampoo twice per day for the first week, then once per day thereafter.

Step 3

Brush the scalp with a prong hairbrush to increase oxygen to the hair follicles. Place a prong-style hairbrush onto your head, and move it around your scalp in circular movements for at least 10 minutes. Focus on the areas that are thinning the most. Repeat twice per day.

Tips and Warnings

  • Massaging and stimulating the scalp helps increase circulation around the hair follicles, which allows more oxygen to reach the developing hair cells. When more oxygen can reach the hair cells, it helps the hair grow faster, and to become stronger, thicker and more shiny. Scalp stimulation can be accomplished by massaging the scalp with an antibacterial oil, or brushing the scalp with a prong-style hairbrush. Using a clarifying shampoo regularly removes dead skin cells and oils that can build up on the scalp, which allows blood to circulate more easily to the follicles. When using a clarifying shampoo, it is helpful to shampoo the hair twice per day for the first week to remove the most buildup, then reduce the frequency to once per day to maintain a clear scalp.
