Waxing is a method of hair removal that offers longer-lasting results than shaving. It removes hair from the root, keeping skin smooth for longer in areas such as the legs, upper lip or bikini line. A professional waxing can be expensive, and many waxes contain chemicals that can irritate the skin. You can make a sugar wax at home with only three ingredients for an all-natural alternative to manufactured waxes.

Step 1

Combine 2 cups of granulated sugar, ¼ cup of lemon juice and ¼ cup of water into a saucepan.

Step 2

Cook the mixture on high heat. Stir every few seconds with a wooden spoon to prevent it from sticking.

Step 3

Watch for the mixture to begin bubbling. As soon as you see small bubbles beginning to form, reduce the heat to medium. The mixture will be about 250 degrees F.

Step 4

Remove the mixture from the stove when it turns light brown and the sugar is completely melted. Allow it to become cool enough to touch.

Step 5

Apply the wax to your body or store it. You can store it by shaping it into a ball and placing it into a glass container in the refrigerator. You can reheat it in the microwave when you're ready to use it.

Tips and Warnings

  • Apply the wax to the desired area on your body by using a spatula. Cover the wax with a cotton strip and press onto your skin, then pull the cotton strip away in the direction of your hairs' growth.

Things You'll Need
