Fine lines and wrinkles are a normal part of aging, but that doesn't mean you have to just accept them. There are numerous ways to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the skin. While preventative measures like staying out of the sun, not smoking and avoiding repetitive facial expressions are helpful, you can still reduce wrinkles once you've developed them with straightforward and simple treatments.

Step 1

Use a prescribed retinoid to treat your wrinkles. Topical retinoids help the top layers of skin slough off faster so that healthier and younger-looking skin is revealed. Derived from vitamin A, retinoids create a smoother skin surface when using regularly.

Step 2

Perform facial exercises to tone and tighten your underlying facial muscles. Sometimes, your skin wrinkles because it doesn't have adequate support underneath. Do exercises like the chin lift, where you look at the ceiling and try to stretch your tongue to your chin. Try a blinking exercise where you place your fingers on your temples and blink five times quickly.

Step 3

Undergo dermabrasion. This procedure is performed either under local or general anesthesia in your dermatologist's office. It involves sanding off the top layer of skin. It focuses on your wrinkled areas, helping to smooth out your skin and give you a more youthful appearance.

Step 4

Have cosmetic injections for your wrinkles. Fillers, consisting of collagen or fat, literally fill in the crevices made by wrinkles. Smile lines and crows feet are common treatment areas. Botox paralyzes the facial muscles and prevent wrinkles from showing for several months.
