Wrinkles under the eyes are common, but that doesn't make those with bags and deep lines feel much better about it. In fact, as you age, the skin beneath your eyes starts to sag and get thin, causing lines and wrinkles. People who go out in the sun a lot or smoke will show these wrinkles sooner. However, no matter when you get these eye wrinkles, there are a few things you can do to stop their progression and to improve the tone and texture of your skin.

Step 1

Moisturize your skin each day and night. After cleansing, apply an oil-free moisturizer, being careful when using it around your eyes. Be gentle in your application and don't tug on the sensitive skin. This will keep your skin hydrated and make the wrinkles you have less noticeable.

Step 2

Apply an eye cream each night that contains retinol. Topical retinol is a type of vitamin A that helps the top layers of skin slough off faster to reveal smoother skin underneath. Repeated use is required before you will start to see results.

Step 3

Try Botox. Your dermatologist will inject a small amount of Botox right under your eye to paralyze the muscles and allow your skin to relax. You will need to repeat this treatment every few months to maintain the wrinkle-free look.

Step 4

Have collagen injected into the under-eye area. Your dermatologist will inject a small amount of a filler into the area to provide a more supple and youthful appearance. Bruising and some pain is normal following the procedure, and it will need to be repeated every six months to maintain the results.

Step 5

Undergo dermabrasion. The dermatologist will use a small sanding tool to remove the top layer of skin. The area will be anesthetized and will require a week or two to heal. Scabbing is normal. Once healed, however, the skin will look healthy, pink and tight.

Step 6

Consider having an eye lift. If the wrinkles under your eyes are very deep and you have pronounced bags or droopiness, this excess tissue can be removed to create a smoother appearance. Cosmetic procedures such as this can be costly, however, so make sure this is something you want to invest in before committing.
