Beauty Tips for Women

With the plethora of beauty regimes, rituals, tips and tricks at your disposal, it can be challenging to decipher what will really work to improve your appearance and what is, frankly, bogus. There are a number of skincare staples to consider that can enhance your skins natural radiance.

Wear Sunscreen

The Mayo Clinic says the best thing you can do for your skin is to protect it from sun. Excessive sun exposure can lead to premature wrinkles, age spots and an overall roughness of your skin. Too much sun can also lead to skin cancer. Try to avoid the sun during the midday hours, when its rays are strongest. Always apply sunscreen with a minimum SPF 15 about 30 minutes before heading outdoors.

Don't Smoke

Smoking is one of the worst things you can do to your skin. Smoking can detract from your beauty because it may cause wrinkles and fine lines and make you appear older than your years. Smoking obstructs the small blood vessels in the outer layers of the skin and inhibits blood flow. This deprives the skin of getting the oxygen and nutrients it needs for optimum health. Smoking also harms the fibers that keep your skin strong and firm.

Stay Hydrated

When your skin is dehydrated, it can appear dull, dry and older. Simply increasing your daily water intake is a simple, inexpensive and virtually hassle-free beauty tip that produces visible results. The National Institutes of Health recommends that you drink six to eight 8-oz. glasses of water each day.

Moisturize

Keeping your skin well moisturized helps preserve the hydrating effects of your skin. Moisturizers that contain vitamin E may work especially well on dry skin. Normal skin types may respond best to a water-based moisturizer. If you have oily skin, the Mayo Clinic says look for noncomedogenic moisturizers, which won't block your pores.

Eat Nutritious Foods

A nutritious diet that includes lean proteins, fruits, vegetables and whole grains can help keep your skin looking healthy. The Mayo Clinic says a diet that is low in fats and carbohydrates and contains plenty of vitamin C may encourage younger-looking skin. The National Institutes of Health recommends that you start every day with a breakfast that includes foods such as low-fat yogurt or whole-wheat oatmeal. Drink low-fat or fat-free milk.

Reduce Stress

When you are under stress, your skin is more prone to breakouts and other conditions. You can improve your appearance by refusing to burn the candle at both ends and making time for exercise and other activities you enjoy.

Mineral Makeup

There are plenty of makeup foundations to cover skin imperfections and enhance your natural beauty. Mineral makeup is a new trend in cosmetics that may give a polished appearance to your skin on top of the basic healthy steps you can take. Mineral makeup is made with actual minerals instead of fillers and colors. The manufacturers of mineral makeup claim that although it looks invisible, it provides ample coverage.
