Program Description
If you want to increase your chances of conceiving a child without having to rely on chance, the best method is to monitor your ovulation so you will know when you are most fertile. Ovulation kits and fertility monitors can further increase your chances of accurately predicting the best time to conceive. These work by detecting the presence of luteinizing hormone, which is present in your urine and increases around 24 to 48 hours prior to ovulation.
You can also test for ovulation by measuring your basal body temperature (BBT). When you are ovulating your BBT increases. You can get a special thermometer from your local drug store to measure this, and as you begin to ovulate, you should notice a spike of between 0.5 and 1.6 degrees F.
Actions
1. Chart your menstrual cycle on the calendar each month.
2. Mark the first day of your period as Day 1.
3. Count back 14 days from Day 1, and this should give you an idea when you ovulate.
4. Test your BBT 2 days before you are due to ovulate.
5. Begin using your ovulation testing kit at this same time.
