Getting a slim and trim waist is a fixation of people all over the world. However, it requires a real dedication to fitness and dietary changes to tone and shape your waistline into your ideal form. The best way to achieve a sculpted waist is to adopt a few workout routines and then change the way you approach how much you eat and when.

Step 1

Combine cardiovascular and strength-training exercises. Alternate the days on which you perform these exercises. For instance, go for a 20-minute jog or bike ride four times a week and work out with weights, or perform repetitive exercises like push-ups or sit-ups three times a week.

Step 2

Work out your abs by doing sit-ups, crunches, reverse crunches and leg lifts. Don't forget side crunches as well, which tone your obliques, a key factor in molding a sculpted waist. With the aerobic activity, these toning exercising should bring out your waist once the excess fat you have is lost.

Step 3

Don't eat right before bed. Stop eating a few hours before you hit the sack. That way you don't go to bed with a stomach full of food to digest, which will end up resulting in calories that are stored in your body and not burned off. If you don't eat late at night, you'll prevent weight gain that can interfere with your slim waistline goal.

Step 4

Don't drink soda or alcohol. They are filled with empty calories and tend to contribute to an accumulation of fat around your waist. Instead of drinking these beverages, drink water or add a bit of lemon to it for flavor. This will help you lose stored toxins, fat and even water, all of which tend to sit on your belly.

Step 5

Cut back your stress levels. High levels of stress cause your body to stay stuck in the fight-or-flight mode all the time, which causes an increase in cortisol levels in the blood. This can lead to increased weight around your middle and is a carryover from our ancestors, who held onto body fat in times of stress in fear of a shortage of food. Try meditating, taking a moment to take a deep breath or participating in an activity you enjoy instead of letting your life overwhelm you.
