Kashi is a subsidiary of the Kellogg Company that offers a wide range of cereals, pizzas, crackers and other foods. There are currently 25 cold cereals and four hot cereals in the Kashi lineup. This brand markets to health conscious consumers who prefer whole grains with high levels of dietary fiber instead of refined flours and sugary cereals.
Dietary Fiber
The Kashi Company claims that its cereals have about twice the dietary fiber of typical breakfast cereals. The company's GoLean Crunch cereal, for example, contains 8 g of fiber per serving, while the 7 Whole Grains brand provides 6 g and the Heart to Heart Honey Toasted Oat contains 5 g. The Heart to Heart Golden Brown Maple, one of Kashi's hot cereal options, also comes with 5 g of dietary fiber.
Calories and Fat
The calorie and fat content of Kashi cereals tends to be a bit lower than typical breakfast cereals. A serving of Good Friends Cinna-Raisin comes with 170 calories and 1.5 g of fat, while the GoLean Hot Honey Cereal contains 150 calories and 2 g of fat.
Protein
Kashi cereals typically provide about 15 percent of the recommended daily intake of protein. The GoLean Hot Creamy Vanilla cereal and the Crunch Honey Almond Flax both offer 9 g of protein. The God Friends Original cereal comes with 5 g of protein per serving.
Vitamins
Unlike most breakfast cereals, Kashi Cereals are not fortified, but some brands still offer plenty of vitamins. The Heart to Heart Oat Flakes and Wild Blueberry Clusters cereal, for example, provides 100 percent of the recommended daily allowance of vitamins E, B6 and B12, 50 percent of vitamin C and 25 percent of vitamin A.
