Soy is a popular ingredient in skin care products because of its abilities to smooth away wrinkles and skin discolorations. Soy is also rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant that moisturizes your skin and provides protection against environmental irritants. although you can buy skin care products made with soy, it's easy and inexpensive to whip up your own soy body butter in your kitchen. You can find soybean oil and the other ingredients you need to make your own body butter at health food stores or online.

Melt your shea butter over low heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning, until it is completely melted.

Use a whisk to mix in soybean oil, cornstarch and fragrance oil, if you're using it. Whisk thoroughly to incorporate the oils and cornstarch into the shea butter.

Transfer the shea butter mixture to the smaller bowl inside the large bowl of ice water. Add vitamin E drops to the shea butter mixture if you're using them.

Use a hand mixer to whip the shea butter mixture until it is thick and creamy, like frosting. Continue beating the shea butter mixture until it forms soft peaks.

Spoon the body butter mixture into storage jars, and apply liberally to your body.
